Bevor ich als Au Pair nach England gegangen bin, habe ich mir diese CD geholt – in der Hoffnung, perfekt vorbereitet zu sein. Diese CDs haben genau das geschafft, da sie alle bekannten und beliebten englischen Kinderlieder enthalten und dazu noch eine Menge mehr. Viele Lieder thematisieren Gott, aber da England generell auch sehr gläubig ist und diese Lieder die Kinder nunmal prägen, ist die CD sehr authentisch und bietet einem wirklich einen guten Einblick in die Kinderlieder im englischsprachigen Raum. Ich werde die CD auch nach meinem Auslandsjahr noch nutzen, da ich als Grundschullehrerin unter anderem Englisch unterrichten werde und man diese Lieder auch super für den Englischunterricht einsetzen kann.

These songs are wonderful, well sung by young kids and perfect for children or adults ha! We played them at my Granddaughter’s 3-year old birthday party and they were delightful, happy and fun. I don’t know why a couple of reviewers said the songs were too “religious” – they are not. If the song “Joshua fought the battle of Jericho” is too religious, that’s sad for you.

–Virtually every nursery rhyme and song you can think of is on the CD.
–The music is simple and fun, it is sung by little kids, and it is enjoyable. My son tends to prefer rhymes sung by little kids (as opposed to adults), and he tends to prefer simple renditions with one or two instruments, instead of complex orchestra pieces.
–Each CD comes in a sleeve on which the list of songs on the CD is printed. So, it is very easy to find a song that you want.
CONS
–There is a lot of *Christian* music on here. Even songs that you would not think are religious have been reworked with lyrics that reference Christianity and Jesus Christ. The CD’s description does not make this apparent at all, so I was caught off guard. I am not very bothered by religiosity, but I don’t think it is fair to parents who are not religious or who are not Christian to be basically lured into buying Christian music without being informed beforehand.
–This CD is very patriotic and America-centered to the point of reworking nursery rhymes’ lyrics to fit in America-first lyrics. That doesn’t bother me, but if you are not a parent who wants your kids to grow up listening to jingoistic music, you might want to rethink buying this.

As many other critical reviews (and positive ones) have pointed out, a great deal of the music on the CD is religious. I’m an atheist, but I’m the kind of atheist who loves Christmas carols and a large number of spiritual hymns (for instance, I love Amazing Grace and Swing Low, Sweet Chariot), but even I get tired of the constant ‘hear the word of the Lord’-iness on display here.
Also, there is a bit of monotony in the selection – on one of the CDs, you have the same tune for a couple of different songs. I know that this happens in children’s songs (although you only really notice it once you have kids and think “Wait, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is the same tune as The Alphabet Song AND Baa Baa Black Sheep? Sheesh”), but when the songs are only a few tracks apart, you tend to notice it more.
All that said, my daughter really enjoys this album. Every time we get in the car, she demands “kids songs” and has quickly caught on to a number of the tunes. Like a couple other reviewers, I get pretty tired of the music quickly, but it is fun to hear my daughter sing along to songs, and she seems to feel more confident singing when she hears other kid voices singing. I think I’ll probably just rip the CDs and remove the songs I can’t tolerate, then burn them again for car use.

Viele Lieder thematisieren Gott, aber da England generell auch sehr gläubig ist und diese Lieder die Kinder nunmal prägen, ist die CD sehr authentisch und bietet einem wirklich einen guten Einblick in die Kinderlieder im englischsprachigen Raum. Ich werde die CD auch nach meinem Auslandsjahr noch nutzen, da ich als Grundschullehrerin unter anderem Englisch unterrichten werde und man diese Lieder auch super für den Englischunterricht einsetzen kann.

–Virtually every nursery rhyme and song you can think of is on the CD.
–The music is simple and fun, it is sung by little kids, and it is enjoyable. My son tends to prefer rhymes sung by little kids (as opposed to adults), and he tends to prefer simple renditions with one or two instruments, instead of complex orchestra pieces.
–Each CD comes in a sleeve on which the list of songs on the CD is printed. So, it is very easy to find a song that you want.
CONS
–There is a lot of *Christian* music on here. Even songs that you would not think are religious have been reworked with lyrics that reference Christianity and Jesus Christ. The CD’s description does not make this apparent at all, so I was caught off guard. I am not very bothered by religiosity, but I don’t think it is fair to parents who are not religious or who are not Christian to be basically lured into buying Christian music without being informed beforehand.
–This CD is very patriotic and America-centered to the point of reworking nursery rhymes’ lyrics to fit in America-first lyrics. That doesn’t bother me, but if you are not a parent who wants your kids to grow up listening to jingoistic music, you might want to rethink buying this.

As many other critical reviews (and positive ones) have pointed out, a great deal of the music on the CD is religious. I’m an atheist, but I’m the kind of atheist who loves Christmas carols and a large number of spiritual hymns (for instance, I love Amazing Grace and Swing Low, Sweet Chariot), but even I get tired of the constant ‘hear the word of the Lord’-iness on display here.
Also, there is a bit of monotony in the selection – on one of the CDs, you have the same tune for a couple of different songs. I know that this happens in children’s songs (although you only really notice it once you have kids and think “Wait, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is the same tune as The Alphabet Song AND Baa Baa Black Sheep? Sheesh”), but when the songs are only a few tracks apart, you tend to notice it more.
All that said, my daughter really enjoys this album. Every time we get in the car, she demands “kids songs” and has quickly caught on to a number of the tunes. Like a couple other reviewers, I get pretty tired of the music quickly, but it is fun to hear my daughter sing along to songs, and she seems to feel more confident singing when she hears other kid voices singing. I think I’ll probably just rip the CDs and remove the songs I can’t tolerate, then burn them again for car use.
