They also love the sound effects. And the illustrations make us all hungry. This series is one of a handful that my 7- and 5-year-old read by themselves. My son is obsessed with pizza so this was a no brainer. We love the story and the cute characters. There are some pages with nothing on them and this can be a little confusing for a brand new reader. But otherwise it’s enjoyable and I recommend it

The illustrations require a good deal of inferring, and readers will love to read and reread this book and series. I am a 20+ year educator of students who sometimes do not yet see themselves as readers, but I just think they need more time in books like this to get them hooked.
