The illustrations require a good deal of inferring, and readers will love to read and reread this book and series. I am a 20+ year educator of students who sometimes do not yet see themselves as readers, but I just think they need more time in books like this to get them hooked.

They also love the sound effects. And the illustrations make us all hungry. This series is one of a handful that my 7- and 5-year-old read by themselves. It’s a feast for the eyes, ears and mouth (if you order pizza after reading)!
